Stormy Night

Lightning flashed distantly, thunder rumbled almost silently. The distant sound of the approaching thunderstorm brought back vivid memories. Not so long ago, he had been in a storm of his own. He looked to the distance towards the storm and noticed a young girl walking slowly towards him. He stood and walked to meet her.
She did not speak, but looked into his eyes with an emotion he could not quite recognize. He reached to brush the hair from her face, and she pulled back, shrinking with intimidation. He pulled back and she followed his hand as if desparate, yet every attempt at touching her brought the same frightenied reaction.
